FAQs

Frequently asked questions by our permanent studio customers...

Where are you located and what areas do you service?

We have permanent studios in Colorado Springs, Denver (2 locations) and Grand Junction, Colorado. We also have studios in Austin and Waco, Texas. All of our studios are conveniently located in those metropolitan areas.

For any outdoor sessions, we are flexible. If the location requested is exceptionally far from any of the studios there may be a travel fee. Please contact the studio closest to you for details.

How long do sessions last?

An average family session in the studio lasts between 20-30 minutes. Larger groups usually take a little longer as do sessions with small children and newborns. Those latter sessions may take a bit longer as we strive to be sensitive to their unique needs. (We all know who’s really in charge!) After the session you will be able to view your photos on a computer, pick out your favorites and customize and place your order. Please allow an extra 30 minutes for this process.

Senior portraits sessions include a 90 minute indoor and outdoor session with any of the set senior packages. The photo viewing and ordering for senior portrait sessions are typically done on a day other than the shoot day.  However, we are flexible if time issues arise.

We need to reschedule, what is your policy?

Not a problem! We understand life happens. If you know you are going to need to reschedule please call the studio as soon as possible and we'll be happy to find you and your family a better date and time.

When will I get my proofs and prints?

For all sessions other than outdoor and seniors, our clients are able to view their images immediately following the completion of their photo shoot. Because we view digitally, our studios no longer offer printed proofs. We guarantee 4 to 6 weeks turn around on prints and 6 to 8 weeks on any specialty products. CDs are typically delivered with your prints, but can be completed sooner upon request.

Do you "touch up" my portraits?

For all sessions other than outdoor and seniors, our clients are able to view their images immediately following the completion of their photo shoot. Because we view digitally, our studios no longer offer printed proofs. We guarantee 4 to 6 weeks turn around on prints and 6 to 8 weeks on any specialty products. CDs are typically delivered with your prints, but can be completed sooner upon request. We're here to help!

Does it cost more for location shoots outside the studio?

Yes. The “on location” sitting fee is higher than the studio sessions. Travel fees may also apply. Please call your studio for details.

When and how do I pay?

Both the sitting fee and any additional purchases made on packages are collected the day of your session.  We accept cash and major credit and debit cards. No checks are accepted.

For any senior or outdoor sessions, all portrait packages are paid on the day of the photo viewing.

What if my pet won't behave during our session?

We’re here to help! Sometimes a misbehaving pet may take a little longer to photograph, but our staff is here to make sure you get the portraits of your pet you want. If you’re concerned about your animal misbehaving, please let us know at the time of scheduling so we can book your appointment time appropriately.

How can I prepare my children/family for the portrait session?

  • Avoid sunburns and bad haircuts the week of your session!
  • Give yourself time to prepare for your session as far as clothing goes. You don't want to be scrambling the day of your family portraits to throw something together.
  • Avoid all food or drink that may cause your child's tongue to turn blue until after the photo shoot!
  • Avoid scheduling during nap time for small children.
  • If you have a newborn, we recommend feeding right before the session.

Other than that, just come on in! We'll do the rest!

Do you provide props or should we bring our own?

We have a variety of props at all of our studios including seasonal items. Please let us know if you have any specific requests. If you have any special items from home you want in your photos, please bring them with you.

What type of clothing should we wear?

We always recommend solid colors and color coordinating with other members of your group.  Avoid logos and printed words on shirts and tops. Please be aware that long sleeves can be more flattering.  As far as dressy or casual goes, be yourself! We want your personality and style to show through in your portraits.

Can we bring clothing changes for our session?

Of course! Newborns are encouraged to bring outfit changes. Senior sessions include 3 outfit changes. If you're a family session and want to do outfit changes, please let us know when booking your session so we can allow extra time.
